Blog Entry: Goodbye, Fiesta. See you next year!

Fiesta kept me from blogging. It is my favorite time of the year not just because it falls on my birthday but because there are hundreds of events to attend within a span of 10 days. Unfortunately my wallet is suffering the consequences from Fiesta. Next year I plan on setting money aside for Fiesta expenses only. I didn’t get to enjoy all the food NIOSA had to offer. I did, however, get a gordita. It was the first item on my “to-eat” list. Sadly, I didn’t get to attend the parades this year. I caught a glimpse of the night parade from a downtown parking garage when it began to pour. For the first time in 65 years, the Flambeau Night parade was cancelled. Talk about history in the making! (For more info on the cancellation, read here.)

Aside from Fiesta, I finally booked this year’s family vacation to California. I’m excited. I was able to enjoy Hollywood last year and now I get to see more of what the beautiful state of Cali has to offer. July 18 cannot come soon enough.

Winston has also been the center of my attention. He is growing up too fast and I don’t want to miss a single second of his puppy days. Seriously, my boyfriend and I feel like parents. We spoil him. This past weekend we took him to his first grooming session at Pet Smart. I really liked their grooming service. (Then again, I had nothing to compare it to but that’s beside the point.) When you pick up your dog they hand you a pamphlet with notes about their grooming session. I thought that was great. Apparently Winston was a sweet dog but protested to getting groomed. Is that possible? Of course it is! He’s too cute that it makes up for his inability to sit still and cooperate. He is 4.9 lbs and it literally took two people to put on his collar! The grooming lady suggested we bring him back regularly for practice. We also decided to sign him up for training classes because we’ve been no progress. We did, however, manage to teach him how to sit. He’s also (kind of) potty trained. It’s more of a hit-and-miss with his potty training. He won’t go outside; only on the potty mat. I’m crossing my fingers the 6 week training course will make a difference.
Doesn’t he look so cute? He looks so different and much older. I’m a proud puppy momma!

Social Media welcomes a new app – Vine!

Have y’all heard about Vine? It’s Twitter’s new video app that allows users to capture their daily lives or show their creativity in a span of 6 seconds. I had no idea Vine has only been around for a couple of months. I decided to jump on the Vine bandwagon Easter weekend. It’s a fun video app but what’s frustrating is that it only allows for 6 seconds of video. Maybe it’s a good thing? I guess it forces people to think outside the box and manage to make something out of a 6 second video clip. You’d be surprised at how many people have worked with that limitation, creating stories through short clips. Browsing through some of the Vine posts, its crazy seeing what people come up with. Some are hilarious, some our touching, and some are just random.

Below is my most recent Vine post. I’ve been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Printstagram order. There are several Instagram photos that I wish I could print. Thankfully I found the perfect website. The packaging of my order was so cute that I instantly thought to myself – this is Vine appropriate.

While trying out Vine I’ve discovered several other video apps like Viddy and Keek. I’ll have to try them out and compare to see which one I like best.

It’s Swimwear Season! (Almost)

I’ve always known Texas weather was bi-polar but this year the weather has been wild. It’s April and our days have been low 40s and high 70s, with a couple of April showers. What’s wrong with you, Texas? Fiesta season is starting in just a couple of weeks and I need it to be hot. Also, I’d like to start putting my new swimsuits from Victoria’s Secret to good use. I am in dying need of some color on my skin. I'm starting to look like Casper, the friendly ghost. It’s time to lay out in the sun and tan!

Speaking of VS swimsuits, I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this year’s swim line. The stores don’t have a wide variety of swim options. I had to order online which was difficult. I don’t like online shopping (hold it! Let me finish…) for SWIMSUITS. Trust me; I am very much a fan of online shopping. With swimsuits, the styles all fit differently. You need to find the perfect one. I like to mix-and-match tops and bottoms. It allows for more options to change up throughout the summer. I accidently bought black bottoms. I’m dumb. I meant to buy white ones because I already have black ones from Pac Sun. Oops! I’ll have to send it back to exchange. These are my swim wear options:
The first top on the left is from last year’s swimwear line. I bought it towards the end of the summer and didn’t get to wear it at all so I’m excited to wear it this summer. It’s extremely comfortable. I wish they were selling that style again this year. I would buy it in every color.

Any suggestions on where to buy cute swimwear? Victoria’s Secret has always been my “go-to” store for swimwear. I’d like to try something new. I could use one more swimsuit option to my collection, right?

Maybe not. But it doesn’t hurt to look!

OFF TOPIC:

The weather may have been crazy lately but it was PERFECT weather Baby Bake weekend. It amazes me how the timing is always perfect for my favorite event of the year. It was nice seeing old friends and professors at one of the most anticipated alumni events. It's been a while since I've stepped on St. Mary's grounds and I was impressed by all the changes. I mean, there's a Starbucks in the library and a Chik-fil-a in the University Center! Where was all this when I was an undergrad?

I did miss out on the annual Fatso's event for Greek and student organizations BUT it was for a good reason: the Chi Phi 25th Anniversary Gala. It was nice to dress up again. In case you don't follow me on Instagram, here's a collage of photos from this past weekend's events.

Winston made an appearance in the collage because he was in Victoria, Texas with my boyfriend's parents for a week. He's finally back home!

Until next year, Baby Bake!

OOTD: Work Attire

Happy April! Hope everybody had a wonderful Easter weekend. I spent it in Houston, Texas with my family. Visited NASA Space Center, the Downtown Aquarium, the Kemah Boardwalk and of course, we made some time for some shopping.

I like to buy tops to mix and match with bottoms that I already have. I've been having trouble finding a way to put together an outfit with my royal blue pants that I bought last year. I wore these pants once and then never found a way to put them to good use…until now.

Top: Express, $49.90 (Online/In-store)
Scarf: H&M, $12.95 (In-store)
Bag: H&M, $29.95 (In-store)
Bracelet: Francesca's, $14.00 (In-store)
Bottom: Banana Republic (No Longer Available)
Shoes: Nine West (No Longer Available)

I picked up my sister from school yesterday. She was all dressed up for a pharmacy school meeting (smarty pants!) and it made me realize how quickly she's growing up. Her style has changed and she's worked hard to stay in shape. She's raiding my closet now. Shout out to my little sister. Here's her OOTD: Business Casual Attire.

Top: H&M, $17.95 (In-store)
Sweater: H&M, $17.95 (In-store)
Bottom: Old Navy
Shoes: DSW

It's been a while since I last posted. I've been way too excited about upcoming April events. Stay tuned for more posts. I'm currently working on a review for Zero Whitening Lightning and a post about swimwear.
