Blog Entry: Goodbye, Fiesta. See you next year!

Fiesta kept me from blogging. It is my favorite time of the year not just because it falls on my birthday but because there are hundreds of events to attend within a span of 10 days. Unfortunately my wallet is suffering the consequences from Fiesta. Next year I plan on setting money aside for Fiesta expenses only. I didn’t get to enjoy all the food NIOSA had to offer. I did, however, get a gordita. It was the first item on my “to-eat” list. Sadly, I didn’t get to attend the parades this year. I caught a glimpse of the night parade from a downtown parking garage when it began to pour. For the first time in 65 years, the Flambeau Night parade was cancelled. Talk about history in the making! (For more info on the cancellation, read here.)

Aside from Fiesta, I finally booked this year’s family vacation to California. I’m excited. I was able to enjoy Hollywood last year and now I get to see more of what the beautiful state of Cali has to offer. July 18 cannot come soon enough.

Winston has also been the center of my attention. He is growing up too fast and I don’t want to miss a single second of his puppy days. Seriously, my boyfriend and I feel like parents. We spoil him. This past weekend we took him to his first grooming session at Pet Smart. I really liked their grooming service. (Then again, I had nothing to compare it to but that’s beside the point.) When you pick up your dog they hand you a pamphlet with notes about their grooming session. I thought that was great. Apparently Winston was a sweet dog but protested to getting groomed. Is that possible? Of course it is! He’s too cute that it makes up for his inability to sit still and cooperate. He is 4.9 lbs and it literally took two people to put on his collar! The grooming lady suggested we bring him back regularly for practice. We also decided to sign him up for training classes because we’ve been no progress. We did, however, manage to teach him how to sit. He’s also (kind of) potty trained. It’s more of a hit-and-miss with his potty training. He won’t go outside; only on the potty mat. I’m crossing my fingers the 6 week training course will make a difference.
Doesn’t he look so cute? He looks so different and much older. I’m a proud puppy momma!
