Goodbye, 2013. Hello, 2014. While the Facebook offers a "year in review" feature, I prefer looking back at my year through some of my favorite blog posts (and Instagram photos) throughout the year. It's been a year full of blessings, adventures, challenges and losses. I look forward to the year 2014.

Apparently I'm not the only shopaholic struggling with having to fit clothes in a small closet since the most popular post this year was small closet space organization. Of course, since then my closet has become even more cluttered, forcing me to reorganize it to fit more unnecessary clothes. A revised small closet organization tips post is in the works for 2014.

Other than the fact that I established a good budget plan to pay off debt (which I still use today), February was also a jam packed month with the rodeo, 4 year anniversary and Valentine's Day.

The month my life changed. On March 4, 2013 J and I met our little pup Winston and our world now revolves on this now 7 pound Yorkshire Terrier. Since then, I have become a crazy puppy momma. Who would've known? Apparently it was also the month I put a Pinterest DIY to work by decorating my house keys with nail polish.

By far my favorite month of the entire year. It's my birthday month and it's Fiesta month in San Antonio which could only mean one thing - lots of outfit posts because your Baby Bake outfit is kind of a big deal to girls at my alma mater. And my sister decided to join me in an OOTD Work Attire post in March which turned out to be a favorite post of mine.

In the mist of spending some quality time with some sorority sisters by making a trip to Austin for some Jason Aldean and signing up for a BYOB painting class (lots of fun!), J and I started puppy training with Winston by signing him up for classes at Petsmart.

June is when I realized my blog posts now revolved around either Winston or Vegas. We saw some progress in Winston's puppy training in Week 5 (actually, we saw progress in Week 1. He's a smart puppy. The trainer was very much impressed. We rock as puppy parents!) Of course, he graduated from puppy training and then I went to Vegas, all in one big giant blog post in June. (FYI: There is some Jonas Brother love in that post. I nearly passed out at the idea of being in the same room at the Jonas Brothers.) And then I threw in a glam up your office area blog post, just because I had to change it up from too many Winston-related blog posts.

I had some exciting trips planned summer of 2013 so I had to blog about must travel essentials in order to not forget anything. In July I went to the happiest place on earth, Disneyland. Seriously, everything about Disneyland was magical. I'm making it a priority to spend my 25th birthday at Disneyland in 2014.

Something big and exciting happened. I was accepted into graduate school. I was both excited and nervous about going back to school, so to ease the nervous I turned to shopping and put together a back to school handbags post. In August, I also learned something new about my dog, Winston. He's a high maintenance dog.

It was boring month since I was busy adjusting to some changes and learning how to balance graduate school and work. I shared some of my favorite make up items and Fall outfits from Pinterest. There was a lot of Winston and social life though, according to my Instagram.

Some of my all time favorite blog posts happened in October. You may not know this but I am a fan of big handbags, so maintaining it organized is important. I shared a "what's in my handbag" post. (Except my handbag is now a mess thanks to all the Christmas shopping and countless receipts.) I also caved and bought an iPad so of course that led to the search for the perfect stylish iPad case. There was also some country music lovin' in Kyle, TX for JAB Fest. While the year was so good to me, October turned out to be a very difficult month. It was the month my grandfather passed away but I wasn't exactly ready to share it on my blog until almost exactly one month later, in November.

Maybe that's why I decided to change up my blog a big, name and design wise and post a little get to know me blog post with the change. A month after my grandfather's passing, I decided to blog about it mainly because I was overwhelmed by the continuous love and support my family had received. It was a blessing.

I mean, do you really need a recap of December? Basically it was birthdays, reunions, celebrating the completion of my first semester of grad school and an unexpected eye cyst surgery.

Happy New Year!

Life Lately and Happy Holidays!

Happy holidays!  Christmas snuck up on me way too fast. I always say I will do my Christmas shopping early, like before Thanksgiving, but these past three months have been a whirlwind. Unfortunately I had to be that last minute Christmas shopper. I just about nearly gave up with Christmas shopping because the mall was crazy packed but the day is finally here - Christmas time! I'm off to Mexico to spend the holidays with the family. Meanwhile, here's a recap of life lately.

one | a teddy bear from J to cheer me up from the unplanned eye cyst surgery. he knew i was feeling down, so he bought me this teddy bear and some chocolate ice cream. the best pick-me-upper!

two | pinterest is always my lifesaver when we have potlucks at work. I wanted to bring something festive to the table. It's an easy fruit kabob that resembles The Grinch

three | it's a giant jenga set at a bar. I have seen friends post photos but had no idea where this huge jenga game was at. Finally, this past week a few of us went to a new place and discovered this huge jenga. It was tough to play but fun.

four | my sorority pledge sister/best friend/partner in crime/everything is in town for Christmas break. There will be plenty of outings and catch up happy hours with this girl in the new two weeks.

five | and J was complaining we never take photos. (It's true. Winston now takes over both our camera rolls. It went from couple selfies to Winston photos.) It's always nice to get out and enjoy a night out with this handsome man. :)

six | and back to Winston taking over our iPhone camera roll. J and I were out doing some last minute Christmas shopping and ran into this little San Antonio Spurs jersey for dogs. We just had to buy it with basketball season back in the picture. We've officially become those dog owners. Don't judge.

seven | if you follow me on Twitter you know I have recently had this urge to try juicing and go on a juicing detox. My sister is big on juicing. She has a juicer and a list of different recipes. We've decided to kick off the new year by going on a 3-day juicing detox and take note of our experience. Stay tuned for that.

eight | because I need to have more than one photo of my little baby Winston. I'm pretty sure he's not a fan of the Christmas tree in J's apartment. He stared at it. He barked at it. He avoided it. He went around it. He did, however, like to just stare at me when wrapping presents. He loves to watch presents get wrapped.

nine | an outfit of the day photo. Shameless mirror selfie a graduation party we went to two weekends ago.

Hope everybody enjoys time spent with family and friends during the holidays. Safe travels!

Blogmopolitan Quiz

Happy Friday!

First things first. I am beyond excited and happy with The X Factor results because - SPOILER ALERT - Alex and Sierra won!

Okay. Plastering a photo probably was a spoiler but I couldn't contain my excitement. Could they not be any more perfect? Their finale performance was the absolute cutest and so sweet. Ah. Adorbs. Anyways, back to being focused...

Hazel from Two Thirds Hazel created this perfect quiz for bloggers to share with their followers. If you're a fan of the quizzes celebrities fill out in the Cosmopolitan magazine, then you will definitely enjoy filling one of these out. It's hard for me to fill out questionnaires or quizzes like these that have to do with answering questions about yourself. I don't know how to describe myself in any way, shape or form, so brace yourself. I am not interesting. I am boring.

I just noticed that I said the one thing that always cheers me up is The Ellen show. I lied. The one thing that truly cheers me up, and my boyfriend would agree, is food. Seriously. I am a fat kid at heart. I love food. If we're fighting, he knows what to do. Take me out to eat. It's actually pretty sad. You know how people say, the only way to get to a man's heart is through his stomach? Well, that saying does not apply just to men. It applies to me, too, because I love food. After food, yes - The Ellen show cheers me up along with a few YouTube videos of Jennifer Lawrence interviews because she's hilarious.

Don't forget to link up because, it's #backthatazzup Friday
The perfect way to kick start your weekend.

I'm not a fan of either Pitbull or Kesha but this song it's extremely catchy.

PS: There is still time left to enter the Starbucks Giveaway!

Stress | Eye Cyst Surgery

Stress is a pain. I had a different post scheduled for today but today went from being an okay, normal work day to a surprise eye surgery when visiting my opthamologist for a follow up appointment. A quick little fun fact: I have been struggling with chalazion/ eye cysts for the past three years, but this year has been the absolute worst. I have had numerous eye surgeries this year alone, so many that I've lost count. It's expensive, exhausting, painful, stressful. It's supposedly stress-related, due to lack of sleep or lack of vitamins. I'm not exactly sure what the cause is. I've been on medication that has made me nauseas. I am now numb to the idea of the eye cyst surgeries. I don't feel pain anymore. (I lie. As soon as I feel that first incision, I squirm and instantly go into panic mode.) I am hoping and praying today's eye cyst surgery was the last. I'm trying not to lose hope on the idea that one day my eyes will be clear of cysts. In the meantime, I'm going to try and relax, breathe a little and just be free is this stress that apparently I have in my life right now.

If anybody has experienced eye cysts or chalazions and can offer some advice or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

Holiday Gift Wrapping Ideas Inspiration

Gift wrapping is by far my favorite part about the holidays. I enjoy wrapping presents. I guess it's because my sister and I used to always help wrap Christmas gifts with my mom when we were little. We may or may not have mastered the art of gift wrapping thanks to my mom. Ok, maybe not mastered but we're getting there.

Every year I choose a Christmas gift wrapping theme and this year I chose to go with brown paper gift wrap. I've been eyeing this polka dot brown paper gift wrap roll at Target for the longest time. It's not even the holiday section. It's in the gift wrapping/birthday section. I'm pretty sure Target is gift wrapping heaven for me. After I made the decision to use brown paper, I started brainstorming some creative way to wrap with brown paper. I immediately went to Pinterest for some gift wrapping inspiration.

You can go to my Pinterest for the links to these beautiful holiday gift wrapping ideas!

After spending quite a while on Pinterest looking for gift wrapping ideas and spending way too much at Target on just gift wrapping items, the result was this:

What do you need?
Brown Gift Wrap Paper Roller Target
Sparkling Gold/Silver Ribbon | Target
Gift Bows Target
Snowflake Gift Tags Target

As you can see, I decided to go with silver, teal and white as my color scheme for my gift wrapping this year. I wanted to keep the gift wrap simple. I chose the silver ribbon to be the "pinch of holiday sparkle" and the teal gift bows to be my "pop of color." I may switch to using a silver yarn or rope instead because the ribbon I bought was difficult to twist. I'll post a photo on my Instagram this week of a gift I wrapped using the silver rope. I need to swing by Michael's or Hobby Lobby. (And hope there will be no additional damage made to my bank account.)

Happy holidays!

Happy Birthday, J + Follow Friday Link Up

Today is a pretty big day. It's my love's birthday. 25 years ago, the love of my life was born and grew to become the most kind, loving, patient and giving man, and I am blessed beyond belief to be his girl. He is now officially a quarter of a century and he has accomplished so many great things. On this day I want to give him the world but all he wants is my heart. Silly boy doesn't know he's had my heart since the first day I laid eyes on him and it's his to keep for eternity. Happy 25th birthday to the man who will forever hold the key to my heart.

Holiday Gift Guide For Dogs

Procrastination at it's finest. I am barely getting to my holiday shopping this week and I am nowhere near done. Now, I am a fairly new puppy momma and this will be my little baby Winston's first Christmas. J and I are a little too excited for Christmas this year. We kind of want to go all out. (Let the judgement begin!) It also probably doesn't help that my sister is a huge dog lover (she has 4 dogs) who has puppy stockings filled with treats every year. Therefore, she fully supports J and I wanting to go all out this Christmas for Winston.

If you have a dog of your own and can't think of any holiday gift ideas for dogs, then go buy the biggest dog stocking available at the nearest store and start stuffing it with these holiday goodies! Dog toys, dog treats, dog holiday costumes - you name it!

Dog Ornament | Petsmart
Holiday Monkey Business Dog Collar | Baxter Boo
Snowman Dog Toy | Chewy
Feeder Dishes  | Holden Designs
Squeaky Gingerbread Buddy  | Planet Dog
Santa Costume | Petco
Holiday Argyle Dog Sweater  | Petco
Indoor Raised Pet Bed  | Target
Peanut Butter Braided Cane | Petsmart

I'm officially excited for Winston's first Christmas. I swear, you'd think he's like my child. Do you buy your pet holiday gifts? Or am I now considered a crazy dog owner?

Happy holidays!

A Few Milestones + Random Thoughts

Happy Friday! Quick little late night post to share a few exciting things. I've hit a few milestones:

1. The little baby blog has reached 10,000+ views overall.
2. Earlier in the week I reached my all time high in daily views: 200+. I mean, what? How?

Watch out! :)

3. I am officially now one final away from being done with my first semester of grad school. Prayers are much appreciated. Praying the grades turn out high. It's been non-stop working hard and I'm pretty sure Starbucks now knows my drink by heart.

As you can see, I wasn't too fond of the idea of spending Black Friday at Starbucks. I was having shopping withdrawals.

I do, however, get to escape for a little bit this weekend to Houston with J and a few of his friends for the Kanye West concert. I drag J to so many Texas country concerts so J is very excited that for once we're going to one of his choice of concert with his friends. I promise to take lots and lots of photos of our trip.

On a more random side note, Fall television shows. First of all, The Walking Dead mid-season finale. HOLY MOLY! I screamed. I cried. I cringed. I am speechless. I'm pretty sure I'm still in shock. Second, the X Factor. I have so many favorites but two contestants I am just obsessed with and for the first time actually going on iTunes to buy their songs are Alex & Sierra (amazing! love love love them! Seriously buying all their songs!) and Restless Road (I love me some country!).

Hope everybody is staying nice and warm! Texas got a cold front last night and whoa, was I not prepared for that. Layering up and sipping on some hot chocolate. :)

December Obsession | Mirrored Perfume Tray

Mirrored Perfume Tray

I decided that I want to start a monthly obsession series. I used to have a "current obsession" on my sidebar but I think this would be much better to keep up with.

For the month of December, my obsession would have to be my mirrored perfume tray. I know it's pretty early in the month but I could stare at this Target find for hours. I have been on the hunt for a mirrored tray to place my perfumes. Sunday after hours spent at Starbucks I decided to take a study break and just walk around Target. It's never just a "walk" around Target. I left with a basket full of great Target finds, one of them being this beautiful mirrored jewelry tray. I may need a bigger one since I have my eye on a few Fall perfumes to add to my Christmas wish list.

Do you have any favorite fall perfumes that you think I should add to my list?

Prayer | Jesus Calling

"The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: 'I have loved you
with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.'"
Jeremiah 31:3

Make time for praying. | I will admit, life sometimes gets busy that I will forget to make time for prayer. I try hard to make it to church on Sundays every now and then. I find myself having to stop and remind myself to make time for prayer, to breathe and find a way to reconnect with what is important: your faith. I'm not sure how I stumbled upon this book. It may have been one of the many times J and I decided to browse through Barnes and Noble. Sometimes we just go for an hour and just walk around for fun. You never know what you will find. Thankfully, Sarah Young's book Jesus Calling caught my eye and I immediately made it a priority to buy it. It's a great daily devotional book. I carry it with me now everywhere I go. I enjoy finding small devotional and inspirational books! Especially during busy times. It's holiday shopping time, finals week with papers and projects due and it's the J's birthday in 11 days! Where did time go?
Happy Monday!

PS: Make sure you head on over to Mikaela Rae's blog for a guest post on my favorite fall booties! :)
