6 Things I Chose To Do Over Being Productive

For this week's Friday post, I'm switching it up a bit. I'm joining Erica Jacquline for her Listed Fridays link up.

6 things i chose to do over being productive

1. Sleep. I needed a few extra hours of beauty sleep, so I sacrificed starting on my proposal paper in order to make sure I had at least 9 hours of sleep last night. Now I'm ready to tackle the paper this weekend.
2. Two words: Grey's Anatomy. Thursdays means it's Grey's Anatomy night. It's only a few episodes away from the big goodbye to Dr. Cristina Yang and the preview alone last night for next week's farewell episode had me in tears. I'm not emotionally stable to be productive.
3. Planning birthday festivities. I turn 25 in less than a week and I have no idea what I'm doing for my birthday. I need to start planning. It's important. It's the celebration of turning a quarter of a century, so it's kind of a big deal. Even if I don't want to celebrate it.
4.  Take Winston to the vet. He was due for an annual check up and his next round of shots, so I just had to take him to the vet. There are things in life that you can't ignore and put aside for later. Winston's little puppy health is very important. He's my little baby. I mean, look at this little face!

5. Update all my iPhone apps. Because we all hate seeing that little number on the top right hand corner of the App Store icon.
6. Attend Fiesta events. It's San Antonio, so Fiesta is happening every day. It's tempting to drop what you're doing and just head to one of the many events.

Now that I have gotten all of these things out of the way, I can now be productive. Happy Friday!

Insta Lately 003

Insta Lately 003
According to Instagram, April has been very eventful which doesn't come to much of a surprise to me because it's Fiesta time in San Antonio. My life through the Instagram lens goes a little like this:

+ Winston showed us his winky face. He's ready for the ladies. Hey, baby! Line them up.
+ Wingstop is the way to my heart, and my boyfriend knows it. We miss our Walking Dead Sundays. We're ready for the next season to start already!
+ Throwback Thursdays is an excuse to walk down memory lane and boy, do I miss Vegas. This is a throwback photo from 2012, zip-lining over Freemount Strip in Las Vegas with the boyfriend. We're kind of adventurous like that.
+ Homecoming Baby Bake weekend, the weekend alum come back to drink all weekend long. 1 out of ten million photos from that weekend, and it had to be one with my pledge sister.
+ You know it's spring when there are colorful flowers blooming everywhere you go.
+ I made sure I set money aside from my tax refund check to go on a little shopping spree. What girl doesn't love to treat herself to a little shopping? I hardly ever have time now to shop, so I went a little crazy.
+ When we do have time for a social life, we like to take a photo together.
+ A group photo with a few of my sorority sisters right before we were interviewed by a TV news station.
+ A photo with my little sister because this year she decided to tag along to Oyster Bake with boyfriend and I. I feel like Oyster Bake is the official kick off of Fiesta in San Antonio and I'm not just saying that because it's held at my alma mater. It's because I go crazy for the food - chicken on a stick, burgers, corn in a cup, sausage on a stick, funnel cakes. I mean, if you haven't experienced Fiesta in San Antonio, then you're missing out!

Now, this was not on my Instagram but I did share some great news on my Twitter the other day. You ready?

I am going to the 50th Annual ACM Awards in Dallas, TX next year!

ACM Awards 50th Annual Texas

I am a huge country music fan so when I first heard that the ACM Awards was coming to Texas, I had to make I got my little country butt some tickets! And I don't mean like nosebleeds, let me just be in the atmosphere and feel the country music in the air. I wanted to be up close, on the floor, where all the action would be. So, I made sure I signed up to get access to pre-sale tickets and got my hands on floor tickets. And now I'm poor, but it's totally worth it! 50th Annual ACM Awards, see you next year!

And then two days later, Texas bi-polar weather gave us some hail strong enough to crack my windshield. After I just pulled a big chunk of money out of my savings for the ACM tickets. Whomp, whomp. So, I'm poor now.

Friday Favorites 007

friday favorites pinterest

01. All Of Me Loves All Of You. I found this printable on Pinterest and I absolutely love it. I plan on printing it and framing it for my bedroom. It's absolutely perfect and it's the lyrics to one of my current favorite love songs. I'm pretty sure it will be my wedding song one day.

02. Flower Bouquet. Spring means bright, colorful flowers and this arrangement is absolutely adorable. I love it. I am loving the polka-a-dot and the brown paper.

03. Living Room Decor. If you follow me on Pinterest, you will have noticed that lately I have been obsessed with home decor. If I had a good paying job and could afford my own little apartment, I would go crazy decorating my apartment thanks to Pinterest. Someday. In the meantime, I'll keep pinning all these fabulous home decor ideas.

04. Short hair, don't care. I recently cut my hair and I'm not 100% satisfied with it. I think it needs to be re-cut in a certain style and colored. Choosing a hair color is a pretty big deal. It's a big commitment but I think I've found just the right shade of light brown and the perfect layered cut.

05. Inspiration board. My bedroom right now has no life. I am in desperate need of a little creative, inspiration area but still gives me some more room for storage. I am loving all the inspiration found in this little photo that I found on Pinterest. Again, more home decor ideas but this one I think I can use in my bedroom.

And that's my Friday Favorites! Better late than never. :) Happy Friday!

My Daily Night Skincare Routine

Hello!Today I wanted to share my daily skincare routine because I'm always trying new skincare products and I love to read about what works for people. Personally, I've never had problems with acne until very recently. After two years of struggling with eye chalazions, I finally got that under control but then it was hellooooo acne cysts. And I'm not talking about just a few acne cysts. I'm talking about getting 3-5 acne cysts every 3-4 weeks. I had to get steroid shots to get rid of some because they were just painful and annoying. They like to think they're here to stay but no. I'm determined to figure this out. So, aside from sticking with my dermatologist's prescribed medication, I'm trying to find a good skincare night routine that will help prevent acne cysts, get rid of oily skin and clear my face. I want to wake up flawless like Queen B and be able to say I woke up like this without having to cover up with layers upon layers of makeup. But for now, this is my daily skincare night routine.

 Skincare Routine

STEP 1: REMOVE MAKEUP
I have sensitive skin, so the Aveeno makeup wipes are great! It doesn't burn or leave my face red. I also use Clinique eye makeup remover to get rid of the tough eye makeup -- like eye shadow, mascara, and eyeliner -- and then go back to using another Aveeno makeup wipe to clean off any makeup that was left behind.

STEP 2: RINSE FACE & EXFOLIATE
I like to rinse my face with water after removing my makeup with makeup wipes. Once I'm in the shower, I use my Clarisonic Mia 2. I just recently invested in this little beauty and I am in love with it. I am so glad I bought it. I can't believe I have waited this long to invest in one. It's very gentle on my skin. I use the sensitive brushes since I am on acne treatment. I like to use the Clarisonic Mia 2 with the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cleanser

STEP 3: APPLY TREATMENT OR MOISTURIZE
For me, the last step to my daily skincare routine is applying the Epiduo gel treatment as recommended to me by my dermatologist. It's an alternative to Accutane. It treats severe acne. I'm suppose to apply it every night but it makes my skin so dry, that I only use it every other day. On the days I don't use it, I make sure I moisturize using the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer. (I need to go back to using it every day because I'm not seeing fast results.)

Again, this is my personal skincare night routine that has been working for me so far. I am no skincare expect, although I wish I was. Otherwise, I would have clear skin. I use this skincare routine on top of the acne treatment that my dermatologist has me on (Epiduo gel, birth control and Doxycycline) so I'm hoping to see my skin clear up within the next few months. I dodged the bullet of having no acne as a teenager but now it's like boom! I'm not so lucky after all.

What skincare products do you recommend for acne prone skin?

April Goals

Happy Saturday! It's April, meaning it's my birthday month. The big 25. A quarter of a century. So, I figured I would make a list of goals for this month. I have tried this whole monthly goals thing before and it never really worked out. This time I made sure my goals were realistic because let's be real - we all make a goals list that we know we probably will never do. For example, back in October (because that's how long it's been since I actually made a monthly goal list) I said I wanted to complete at least one DIY project from Pinterest. Um, no. I don't have time for that. But I will include at least ONE unrealistic-but-I-really-really-want-to-do-it goal.

 April Goals

APRIL GOALS //

+ Finish all final papers in a timely manner. No procrastination.
+ Do not stress. Pray more, worry less.
+ Accept the fact that I will be a quarter of a century old this month and embrace it.
+ Schedule a spa day with my sister.
+ Develop photos from past vacation trips. (Maybe create a scrapbook. Now, that part is probably unrealistic.)
+ Go to a bookstore and buy a "good read" book. Any suggestions?
+ Do some major spring cleaning.

Unrealistic-but-I-really-really-want-to-do-it goal:
+ Sign up for a gym membership. No more excuses.

April Goals are already off to a good start because just today I already had a spa day with my sister. We spent our Saturday morning getting a nice, very relaxing spa pedicure. Checked one off the list already!

What are your goals for this month?
