Vacation Recap: Las Vegas

Oh, Vegas. You kill my bank account every time, but this time even more because it wasn’t just any old Vegas trip. It was my sister’s 21st birthday and her first time in Vegas. No worries. We didn’t get all wild and crazy. We’re not about that life.  I prefer to "do Vegas" with some shopping and day drinking.  Seriously, the first night in Vegas Joseph and I were dead tired and ready for bed by 10PM Vegas time. You can imagine my sister’s reaction and frustration because we couldn’t hang. But to be fair, Joseph and I had been up since 6AM Texas time and we worked a half a day. The next day, we slept in and made sure we were well rested and with plenty of energy to enjoy Vegas.  Here's a little recap in photos, most of them from my Instagram account.

It was a good trip. We stayed at Planet Hollywood. I was hoping to have a run in with Britney Spears because I mean, who doesn't love Britney Spears? Sadly, that didn't happen but Vegas was still a success. I think this was the longest I've been in Vegas. 4 days and 3 nights. It was exhausting. It was a good trip but definitely exhausting. I think I'm done with Vegas for a good while. It's time to go somewhere with less walking and more relaxing. Joseph keeps saying he wants to go somewhere "less tourist-y," whatever that means. Any suggestions?

Bathroom Counter Organization

This is why I love blogging and sponsors. Thanks to Rebekah's bathroom counter organization post from Living Lavender, I was inspired to make a trip to the Container Store and reorganize my counter. Now, it doesn't look as nice as Rebekah's but it's a start and I am happy with the results. I can't wait to reorganize the bathroom cabinet and medicine cabinet now.

Friday Favorites + Super Fab Sponsor Spotlight

Woohoo! It's Friday. This has been the longest week of my life. It was finals week and I was getting anxious about my upcoming Vegas trip. (I'm sure you're tired of hearing me talking about that. Every other tweet is probably about this trip.) But it's officially the weekend and now I can start packing. I did, however, want to jump back into the swing of things on this blog. It's been a while since I've done a Friday Favorites.

FRIDAY FAVORITES

01. Password Book | I need this in my life ASAP. I have so many passwords for so many things that it's hard to keep track. I'm pretty sure I've had to reset my Apple password like 5 times this month alone so this would be perfect for me. It's just kind of pricey.
02. Wifey Tee Don't tell the boyfriend, but lately I have been obsessed with pinning wedding-related pins to my dream wedding board and one of those things is this super cute wifey tshirt.
03. Casual Work Outfit | We get to wear jeans at work on Fridays (and Mondays. Random, I know.) so I've been all over Pinterest looking for cute casual work outfit ideas because I'm running out of ideas of my own. It's taking me way too long to get ready. I need some outfit inspiration.
04. Vegas, baby! | Enough said.
05. All you need is sleep I am beyond exhausted that waking up for work this week has been so difficult but I've managed to make it work. I am in dying need of sleep. I cannot wait to relax and enjoy a vacation away from home/work/school. It will be much needed.

And now for some Super Fab Sponsor Spotlight!

Say hello to Rebekah from Living Lavender. She has some awesome DIY posts over on her blog along with some great organization tips. Thanks to Rebekah's bathroom organization tips, I was able to clear out my own bathroom counter and reorganized my skincare products. I am seriously obsessed with it now. (Big thanks!) Get to know Rebekah with her Super Fab Sponsor Spotlight interview below!

01. What's the story behind your blog?
I chose the blog name Living Lavender because I wanted the blog to reflect my desire to lead a calm and relaxing life. Nothing is more calming to me than lavender.

Probably when I went to Cozumel last year. I got to go scuba diving for the first time and it was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had.

The entire Ed Sheeran album. I am obsessed.

04. What are five fun facts about you?

Small Closet Organization: Part 2

Happy Weekend! I needed to take a break from finals to blog a little otherwise I'm going to go crazy. I am so ready to turn in these final papers and be done, for like a week and then it's time for summer school. No break for this girl!

Last year I blogged about small closet space organization and shared some tips on how to make a small closet work. I have reorganized my closet since then and somehow managed to make more room for clothes. I think I had shared a photo of my closet and talked about how I needed to win the lottery to buy more organization shelving to reorganize it, and I had a few ask to make another post on small closet organization. Well, here it is: how I organize my small closet and make it work.

Small Closet Organization

SMALL CLOSET ORGANIZATION TIPS

Target is your best friend.
It really is. Most of the shelving in my closet is from Target. I bought a 3-shelf cube and a 3-drawer tower, stacked them up one on top of the other, and placed it in the middle of my closet to use as a divider. It looks much cleaner having it in the middle. I use the shelves to store my small clutches, wallets, perfumes on a mirrored tray (which I am absolutely obsessed with) and my jeans. The drawers I use to store my swimsuits, hair products, and belts & accessories. I'm sure IKEA has some good closet shelves, too, but the nearest IKEA for me is in Round Rock which is a good hour and 45 minute drive.

Make space count.
I'm a cardigan kind of girl. I have a lot of cardigans that take up a lot of space.  There was a lot of free space under my hanging shirts and cardigans so I decided to head back to Target and buy a 9 cube shelf and use that space wisely. I fold up all my cardigans and sweaters there, making room to hang more clothes. I love how neat and organized it looks that way. I can see what I have. I also use the extra cube space for my purses and fold up my dress pants.

Keep the shoes in their boxes.
You can't see the boxed shoes in these photos but they're on the top shelf, stacked up. Personally, I like keeping my shoes in their boxes. It looks much more organized and keeping the shoes in their boxes keeps them from getting damaged or marked up from other heels. The only downside is that I'm short and I hate having to use a stepping stool every time I need a pair of shoes. It's a hassle having to grab them from the top shelf, especially when you don't know what shoes you're wearing and you're constantly switching out your shoes and outfits.

Storage bins aren't so bad.
I have tried everything with figuring out how to store my scarves. From hanging them behind my door to even hanging them on actual hangers in my closet. I finally found a solution: a storage bin from Michael's. I find storage bins great for storing scarves.  Sure, you have to dig through the bin for a scarf but it works for me.

Keep it clean.
It won't look nice and organized if you don't keep it that way. I'll admit, sometimes I don't everything back where it goes and my already small closet will start to look like a mess. I try to keep everything organized and in place to make sure that when I come home from a day of shopping, I can easily put my clothes away.

The only problem I'm having storing (other than the shoes being on the top shelf) is dresses and maxi skirts because one side has the double hanger bar and the other side has the shelf at the bottom. Any tips?
